Students will participate in Reading, Language, Writing, and Social Studies activities
that follow the Louisiana State Standards. We will be using the reading
curriculum entitled Wonders. Wonders focuses on using comprehension and
vocabulary strategies to understand what is read. Spelling and grammar
are also components of the Wonders curriculum.
Reading skills we will focus on this year include, but are not limited
to: main idea and key details, theme, cause and effect, sequencing,
making inferences, problem and solution, compare and contrast,

The writing program focuses on the Six Traits of Writing: ideas,
organization, word choice, voice, conventions, and sentence fluency. Students will learn how to apply the skills they've learned in class to real life situations.
