GRADING POLICIES

English Language Arts (ELA): Weekly Test: 90% and Participation/Homework: 10%The grade will consist of two categories: Reading/Writing/Spelling & Grammar/AR Test Category: 90% and Participation/Homework Category: 10%.

  • 90% Reading/Writing & Grammar Category: The Reading/Writing & Grammar Test Category will be come from weekly assessments taken from the Louisiana State Guide Books. These assessments will include “cold read” passages with multiple-choice questions and an extended response that assess the Louisiana State Standards that have been taught throughout the week.  Grammar Tests will be given in two different ways.  Grammar will be tested in isolation and application throughout the year. At least one major Writing grade per 9 weeks.  This category will contain a minimum of 6 grades each 9 weeks.
  • 10% Participation/Homework Category: In this category, students will receive a grade for Classwork, Homework, and Literature Circles.  Please note that Homework will not be graded based on correct answers, but the effort the student puts forth.

 Social Studies:

Minimum of 4 grades @ 100%.  These assessments will include multiple-choice questions and an extended response that assess the Louisiana State Standards that have been taught throughout the week.  Test may be on any day of the week.  Students will know the test date at least one week prior to the test.  Students will receive a study guide to help prepare for Social Studies test.  Study guide will have key terms and notes.  Students are responsible for class assignments that may not be on the study guide.
