Course Syllabus

                                  

Grade 4 content will include: America the Beautiful, Early America, Governing a New Nation, Westward Expansion, Progress and Change and Impact of Technology.


Homework

Homework will consist of reviewing class assignments and reviewing the Social Studies study guide daily.

 

Folder

Students should have a blue folder for Social Studies class. The folder will be used to organize worksheets and assignments. I will allow students to clean their folders after the unit is completed. Students should return the Social Studies folder to school daily.

 

Grades

Tests and projects will be graded and weighted equally. Minimum of four grades. The teacher will follow the District Grading Guidelines. Tests may be on any day of the week. Students will know the test date at least one week prior to the test. Students will receive a study guide to help prepare for all Social Studies tests. Study guides will consist of key terms and notes. Students are still responsible for class assignments that may not be on the study guide. Students should review class assignments daily. Students will mainly have computer- based tests. However, at times, paper-based testing will be given. Grades will be posted in JCAMPUS. 


Test Papers

Test papers will be sent home every Wednesday. Please sign and return by Friday.

Absences

If a student is absent, the student is responsible for receiving missed work from the teacher. A make- up folder will be located in the classroom. Make-up work or test must be completed within five days of returning to school.

 

Behavior Policy

Discipline Plan will be strictly enforced in our classroom. The rules are as follows: 1.) Follow teacher’s directions 2.) Raise your hand for permission to speak 3.) Stay in your assign seat or area 4.) Keep hands, feet, objects, and unkind comments to self.


If a rule is broken more than once, a consequence will be issued according to the GES Policy Manual. You can check your child’s behavior daily by reviewing and signing the discipline form/behavior chart.
