Course Syllabus
Students will participate in Reading, Language, Writing, and Social Studies activities that follow the Louisiana State Standards. We will be using the reading curriculum entitled Wonders. Wonders focuses on using comprehension and vocabulary strategies to understand what is read. Spelling and grammar are also components of the Wonders curriculum.

Reading skills we will focus on this year include, but are not limited to: main idea and key details, theme, cause and effect, sequencing, making inferences, problem and solution, compare and contrast, summarizing, and point of view.

The writing program focuses on the Six Traits of Writing: ideas, organization, word choice, voice, conventions, and sentence fluency. Students will learn how to apply the skills they've learned in class to real life situations.

For handwriting we will be using the curriculum Handwriting Without Tears. Handwriting Without Tears will teach students learn how to write cursive easily.


Grading Policy:


ELA grades will consist of 90% weekly tests and 10% participation . There will be a minimum of 6 grades each nine weeks.
Social Studies will be the exact sam as ELA. There will be a minimum of 4 grades each nine weeks for this subject.
